Main Menu Bar Menu Items¶
The App Menu¶
The app menu is shown only on macOS.
- About Latinum
Opens the About window, which contains the app’s copyright information and version number.
- Report a Bug
Opens your web browser to the Latinum issue trader. You can submit bug reports, or feature requests.
- Preferences…
Opens a preferences window. Changes made in the preferences window affect the whole application. Some changes require the application to be restarted.
- Quit Latinum
Exits the application.
The File Menu¶
- New Window
Creates a new main window, where you can open a separate workspace.
- New Chart
Creates a new chart in the current workspace.
- New Chart
Creates a new chart in the current workspace.
- Workspaces
- Close Pane
Closes the active pane in the workspace, this will also schedule the pane for deletion. All charts displayed in the workspace are contained in panes.
- Close All Panes
Closes all panes the the current workspace, they will all be scheduled for deletion.
- Close Other Panes
Closes all panes except the active pane in the workspace, closed panes will be schedule for deletion.
- Import
- Export
- Page Setup
Opens the page setup dialog, to change the page settings used when printing.
- Print Preview
Opens the print preview dialog, to preview how a print will look.
- Print…
Prints an image of the current workspace.
- Broker
- Sign in to Beantrader
Opens a signin dialog to signin to you Beantrader account.
- Sign in as “username”
Displays options for the currently logged in Beantrader user.
- Opens
Opens a options window. Changes made in the options window affect the whole application. Some changes require the application to be restarted. Not displayed on macOS.
- Exit
Exits the application. Not displayed on macOS.
The File > Workspaces Menu¶
Contains menu items to switch to other workspaces and save workspaces.
- Select Previous Workspace
Opens the previous (alphabetically) workspace, closes the current workspace.
- Select Next Workspace
Opens the next (alphabetically) workspace, closes the current workspace.
- “Workspace Name”
Opens the workspace with “Workspace Name”, closes the current workspace.
- Revert “Workspace Name”
Re-opens the workspace with “Workspace Name”. If you accidently closed a chart pane and want it back you can revert the workspace to its last save state. Reverting a workspace will cause you to lose all changes made since the last save. Auto saving workspaces every 10 minutes is set by default.
- New Workspace…
Opens the workspace save dialog. If you give the same workspace name as the current workspace if will be overwritten, equivalent to “Save this workspace”. If you give it another name the current workspace won’t be saved, any changes since its last save will be applied to the new workspace, equivalent to “Save workspace as”.
- Manage Workspaces…
Opens the manage workspace dialog.
The File > Import Menu¶
- Workspace…
Import a previously exported workspace.
- Template…
Imports a previously saved chart study template.
The File > Export Menu¶
- Image…
Opens the export image dialog. Export images of the entire workspace of a single chart.
- Workspace…
Export the current workspace for import archive or for import to another installation.
The File > Broker Menu¶
- Login…
Open the login dialog to signin to your broker.
- Logout
Log out of the broker.
- Change Password…
Change you broker password.
- Symbols…
Opens the symbol subscription dialog. With FXCM you should enable subscriptions for all the symbols you want live prices for and symbols you want to trade.
The View Menu¶
- Show Toolbar
Show or hide the drawing toolbar.
- Show Format Bar
Show or hide the format bar. The format bar contains the fill and stroke color pickers.
- Show Statusbar
Show or hide the status bar. The status bar contains the connection status, and server time.
- Show Clean Screen
Hides all the main toolbars, mini blotter, markets sidebar. Clear you screen.
- Mini Blotter
Show or hide the mini blotter. The mini blotter contains trading related information, such as open positions, pending orders, and closed positions.
- Markets
Show or hide the price table.
- Show Tabbed
Changes the workspace view to tabbed, each pane will be on a separate tab, maximised.
- Enter Full Screen
Change to full screen mode.
The Chart Menu¶
- Study Template
Save a chart study template or load an existing chart study template.
- Color Scheme
Change the active color scheme.
- Reload All Data
Reload all the data for the active chart.
- Symbol Search…
Opens a dialog to search for a symbol. The symbol selected will replace the active charts symbol.
- Chart Properties
Opens the chart properties/options dialog. These properties are independant for each chart. Not all chart properties are displayed in this dialog. You will find more options by right-clicking the chart or an axis.
The Interval Menu¶
Change the active charts interval.
s5 = Five Seconds m1 = One Minute m2 = Two Minutes H1 = One Hour H2 = Two Hours D1 = Daily W1 = Weekly M1 = Monthly Q1 = Quarterly Y1 = Yearly
The Studies Menu¶
- Insert Study…
Opens a dialog to search for an available indicator or overlay, most but not all studies are shown in this dialog. The selected study will be applied to the active chart in the workspace.
The Drawing Menu¶
The Drawing menu contains menu items for all enabled drawing tools. It also contains drawing related actions.
- Select
The select tool allows selecting a drawing with the mouse.
- Move
The move tool allows moving a drawing with the mouse, the drawing will be selected after being moved. The move tool will move the entire drawing, if you want to only move a single point use the pen tool.
- Eraser
The eraser will erase and delete any drawing you click on.
- Pen
The pen tool can be used to move single points of a drawing. For example, a trend line has two points use the pen tool to move each point individually.
- Measure
The measure tool can be used to measure both time and price changes with the mouse. With the tool activated click on a point on the chart and drag to another point without releasing the mouse button, percent change, number of bars, slope information is displayed.
- Hand
The hand tool allows panning backwards and forward in time, and high or lower in price. Disable price axis autoscalling if you want to pan the price axis.
- Zoom
Allows zooming into a rectangular selection. Zooming in and out isalso possible using the mouse scroll wheel while holding the Control key. You can also zoom in and out by clicking and draging the axes.
- Default Colors
Resets the fill and stroke colors to there defaults values. If a drawing is selected the color changed will also be applied to it.
- Swap Colors
Swap the colors of the fill and stroke. If a drawing is selected the color changed will also be applied to it.
- Magnet Mode
Enable or disable snapping to the charts data points, snaps to high, low, open, close values.
The Window Menu¶
- Minimize
Hides the window. Show it again using alt-tab, or clicking the icon in the taskbar or dock.
- Select Previous Pane
Activate the previous pane. Also works in tabbed mode.
- Select Next Pane
Activate the next pane. Also works in tabbed mode.
- Select Previous Pane
Activate the previous pane. Also works in tabbed mode.
- Arrange Panes
Re-organize the panes in the current workspace by the selected algorithm.
- Data Window
Opens a data window in a separate tool window.
- Outliner
Opens a tree representation of the drawings and studies attached to a chart. The contents automatically update when the active chart changes.
